~Liu MeiFeng 「Shuraki」 柳妹鳳~

Probably the most annoying figure yet I’ve come across thus far. Taking her apart and putting her back together took even longer than setting up and taking the photos -_-” Heck, stripping and assembling a rifle actually takes less time than what I spent struggling with MeiFeng T_T With my exceedingly short patience, I guess thats why as well I don’t mess around with Transformers, I’d probably bash my skull in while trying to figure out how Convoy or Megatron transforms :(

Suffice to say, towards the middle, I was almost hoping to break something so I can call it quits with her. So I guess fortunately for me, I managed to put her back together without losing my sanity and a figure I was quite happy to receive initially didn’t turn out to make me regret getting her ^^;

Right from the get-go, this is one really sweet figure. One metal rod and peg goes into her right leg, so whether she’ll lean is really something not to be worried about. Honestly, now that I’ve been through it, the only reason I would leave her in the box untouched is simply because it’s one major pain in the arse to take her apart >.<

But I survived the process, and now I’m a happy guy, and the struggle I had awhile ago seems so far away. Unfortunately, some little spots of paint on her hair got chipped away somewhere on the way to me so some parts of her hair are marred. But one look at that sweet face and expression and I can sort of live with the chips. In the beginning it didn’t seem like I would be able to get her anyway so I should just be contented I guess xD

Her hair is really awesomely done, in spite of the little mold line at the twirly whirly bun-like hair at the top of her head. Fantastically sculpted with lots of sweet detail, even while the whole figure is great in general, her hair really stands out.

Just the normal version of her shot since I really don’t want to go through the nightmare of putting her back together more than once, her clothing has a sweet paint job mostly and looks great. Some little parts have paint that run off, but they aren’t majorly bad, and aren’t in visually obvious places.

Mostly as you can see, the paint runs off slightly at the sides. Could be just my copy of the figure since these issues aren’t consistent, and like I mentioned, not too visually obvious when viewed from the front anyway.

Her weapons. I like how her blue one was done over the red/pink. It just doesn’t seem to have much impact for me as the blue did. Overall, I very much prefer Akatsuki’s weapons over MeiFeng’s.

Lovely, flowing lower section of her clothes. Paint job here is crisp and well finished.

Really lovely set of legs ^^ From the anklets to the thigh band to the little openings at the sides. I could really look at it forever and not grow bored xD

Absolutely sweet base. GSC really does the best bases as far as I’m concerned ^^b

I like this angle, so much revealed yet the mysteries still remain xD

Wanted to go for a rocky/mountainous theme but didn’t have quite enough rocks and steam to go about making one. So as usual, I present my lazy shots which actually could use some covering up but oh wells =D

A really great figure to get if you’re considering getting her. Those who missed the first run should look forward to getting the second run due in April. Despite being somewhat pricey for a 1/8 scale figure, she does come with a drama CD and a booklet so it’s not exactly like you’re getting gimped for the amount you’re paying. I honestly think I would have gotten her even if she didn’t come with those extras anyway ;)

Manufacturer: Good Smile Company

  1. Even though her price is way high for a 1/8 figure the amount of detail and good work explains the price. So she has a metal rod ?! It’s the best thing a action posed figured has I think almost all standing figures should have metal rods, thanks to that my one year old Ilya swimsuit has been standing straight from day one ^^.

She’s indeed a great acquisition but due to money saving and lack of space I’m holding back the purchase of figures.

  2. Not one picture of her in her torn dress T-T, too bad lol. The background is nice, I don’t think I have the patience for making something like that, that probably means I won’t have the patience to deal with MeiFeng’s cast-off lol.

  3. Yay! You finally took her out of the box! I’m so happy for you! It’s a shame that you got some paint chips on her hair. Are you sure those are paint chips, and not something that actually got on the hair?

She was definitely a stubborn one to take apart. I don’t think I was able to put her back together properly either - part of her bra is still showing. But seeing your photos shows that it’s definitely possible to stuff her bra in.

Glad that you didn’t whore her torn clothes. Considering how difficult she is to take apart, it’s probably better that way.

Even though your photos are a bit lazy, it’s still really nice to look at. I thought you bought some new props? Where are they? :P

Did you preorder the other Shuraki figures as well? Wait, didn’t your Shall arrive already?? Would love to see some group shots!

  4. I would love to get this figure since the first release announcement. But a local shop here is selling it for Php3,500 and it’s tad expensive shipping not inc. yet…

  5. @Belela-san: Sometimes metal rods don’t guarantee longevity though :( I remember the Mikuru waitress leaned after just one night on me. Oh her metal rod is straight, but the base was just made too soft and her weight caved the base in, thus causing the lean :(

@AS: Too much pain trying to switch the dresses, so I opted out altogether :p The backgrounds are normally a fast job really, not much patience required, but I’m sure you can tell it’s a hackjob all thrown together mostly xD

@Radiant: Nopes, they’re pretty much chips sadly :/ Don’t think I stuffed her back in till her bra was hidden, more like I pulled up her top slightly so it covered the bra ;)

Did use new props, don’t you see the red flowers? xP The rest of what I got didn’t exactly fit what I was trying to go for, so I couldn’t really employ them. Heh, I just buy the props without thought of what they’re gonna be used for mostly anyways.

Haven’t opened Shall/Char yet, have to figure out where to clear more room or just head down to IKEA already someday. MeiFeng as it is is just left in the open right now -_-”

@samejima: No clue how much Php 3,500 really is :/ Tried using foreign exchange calculators but my bank’s website is stupid and didn’t tell me a thing -_- Hopefully it’ll get cheaper for you with the second release coming soon.

  6. Oh god, GORGEOUS photo shoot, I love the lighting especially.

I’m STILL waiting for my bloody copy of Mei, it’s been MONTHS of delay on part of the store so I’m not pleased one bit AND I’m paying out of my ass for shipping. grr

I’m looking forward to your Char photo shoot as well :3

The Shuraki figures don’t seem that expensive to me, considering they also come with a CD and booklet. Heck, the Shuraki figures are cheaper than some of my other figures alone…

  7. @Aya: Thanks =) You didn’t happen to order from KNC did you? Because Radiant was having some troubles with his MeiFeng from KNC but it did get to him eventually, though nobody really likes the waiting, especially if you paid already and things get delayed for no good reason :/

Not too sure when I’ll ever get to shooting Char, so I’m more looking forward to your outdoor shots actually xD Especially since you already have a few ideas for shooting her ;)

Yeah you’re right, there definitely has been more expensive figures *sigh* The CD and booklet seems to be good, from the pictures I’ve seen of them, so yeah, I haven’t opened the booklets or CDs yet for both Akatsuki and Meifeng ^^; These extras tend to be a wasted thing for me since I like having them, but I never actually use them or even look at them -_-” DOH.

  8. Ya, I did get it from KNC…-_-;
I asked them and they said they had troubles and it’ll take a month…a month passed and I was about to give up until they sent a mail confirming it was coming.

I still don’t have it, BUT I got a notice today from the postie, let’s hope it is…

    I havn’t tried my Char CD yet… I really should :P

  9. @Aya: Ouch, well I sincerely hope that the notice is really MeiFeng after all. Think they just had problems with MeiFeng, I know someone who got Akatsuki from them without much hassle, so it’s probably just a one-off problem that occurred hopefully.

Man, I really should at LEAST just take a peek at the booklets -_-
