~Sumomo Akihime 「Nanatsuiro Drops」 秋姫すもも~

It wasn’t a great anime by many people’s standards, but oddly enough, I really liked the anime and enjoyed it thoroughly (note: this is why I can never blog about anime, I’d like everything -_-”). Had the version of Sumomo in her school uniform and it wasn’t till lu-k unleashed this awesome pictorial did I realize this version was available too. I’d have to say thanks to him as well for burning up the fire inside me to indirectly get back into gaming (never realized limited edition games (JP) had so much cool stuff! :p)

Now, how many ways do I like this figure? It’s by Good Smile, it’s very nicely finished, it’s Sumomo, and so much more :p Heck, she even has a belt over her chest that was all the rage in Disgaea boards about female warriors ^^;

The figure arrives with the white chunk of plastic attached to it’s foot, in which you attach to the base itself. Not much worries of leaning for me as the legs feel really solid, and being Good Smile, I’m not going to waste much time wondering whether she’ll lean.

Sumomo is just too cute. Too cute I say.

Funny how something looks so good on a figure but ends up looking horrible on real people :p Have seen in a magazine some instructions on making Sumomo’s hat and costume and wow. What a disaster, heh.

Interesting design for her staff. And actually believable as well since it IS used to scoop stuff.

I really like the design, elaborate but yet somehow doesn’t overwhelm.

Paint job is excellent all around, lines are all clean, even her buttons are done nicely.

I really like the frills on the little bit of her skirt. It’s simply stunning and very nicely done, it even looks soft to me ^^

Detail and paintwork is great on her leg region as well, from the laces on her thighs to the lines of her soles. There really isn’t anything I can dislike about this figure quality-wise.

So here we are back for more of the “Screen Chronicles”. Hope you enjoy it xD

An awesome figure, somewhat shockingly just a limited release with the PS2 game since I’m pretty sure she’ll really sell well even just as a figure release. Hopefully GSC will one day release her for public sale.

Manufacturer: Good Smile Company
Scale: 1/8
Released: Sep 2007
Price: N.A.
Availability: N.A.

So this here’s the front and reverse of the package the game and figure comes in. Was totally blown away by the size of it, like my very own gigantic ps2 game! w00t! ^^ This explains why I was kind of disappointed by the size of the package Myself; Yourself came in :(

Front and reverse of the game itself as well as the insides. Which is pretty much just a smaller scale of the box except this one can be opened up =P Mine didn’t come with the artbook, as the artbook was a pre-order bonus :(

It wouldn’t be difficult to come to the opinion that the game probably sucks so bad that it had to come with a 1/8 scale figure in order to boost sales. But that isn’t really the case this game happens to be ranked No. 1 in the Dec issue of G’s Magazine as well as you pretty much have to pay for the figure and it doesn’t exactly come free. So is the game really great? If you’re into visual novel style games, or if you liked the story of the anime, this game would probably work for you. Here’s some screenshots from the first chapter of the game:

Those familiar with the anime will probably find some shots familiar. But this game isn’t a copy of the anime and has some slight differences, most notably the inclusion of a 3rd Stellar Spinner: Yurishia Satsuki (皐ユリーシア). Those who enjoyed the story might want to give the game a shot, or get the manga since Yuri makes an appearance in the Manga as well.

  1. I liked the anime too but the subs took so long that I stopped watching the show after episode 9. Why not take yearly photoshoot of your room/collections? just like mojya-san of TASTE http://taste.style.coocan.jp/room01.htm

  2. I like Sumomo with a rounder looking head and hair, the one in the game looks too normal. Cute pictures ^^.

  3. @Samejima: Think I stopped for awhile too but it wasn’t because the subs were too slow, just that I somehow drifted off to other stuffs ^^; Though I finished in the end, I hope you got to finishing the series too =)

My room is quite a mess of boxes and all that, definitely not very suitable for public viewing, heheh. I’m really a super slob :p

@AS: I’m fine with both, but if pressed, I would go for the game version though, and it’s kinda round too if you look closely. lol. We’re always at odds on the characters we like aren’t we? xD

  4. awwwww… kawaiii…

I’ve tried hard to resist buying this figure because I’m not interested in the game, but you just won’t stop trying to persuade me to buy it! The details look absolutely amazing, and she looks so adorable! I’m not super keen on her somewhat awkward pose though. That right leg is definitely not humanly possible, ouch.

There was a different Sumomo figure that I’ve seen wearing the same outfit (no not the casual clothes outfit) and I’ve never seen it anywhere else - it might have been a wonderfest exclusive, or a resin kit. If they ever release another Sumomo as a standalone PVC figure, then I might have to consider buying it. But for now, I lack the budget to support such a wonderful figure. Good on you for getting a hold of it! :)

  5. @Radiant: Heh, don’t think of me as a bad guy here, I’m really not trying to persuade you to get it :p Just thought it was about time I took her out from the box thats all ^^

Have a rough idea which figure you’re talking about there and if my memory doesn’t fail me, it’s likely a WF resin kit or something. Something out of my means T_T Hopefully they’ll release her as a standalone figure so others can share in the cuteness that is Sumomo! ^o^

  6. this is why I can never blog about anime, I’d like everything -_-”
    I am exactly the same haha, a very good public ^^;
I’d love playing the game… but one, I think it would be a bit hard since I don’t understand japanese, and two, my playstation 2 is european… maybe I should buy a japanese ps3 that can read ps2 games xD
Lovely stone you used in last picture haha :D
And that’s too sad about the artbook :(

  7. @lu-k: Heh, takes a heckuva long time for me to play as well since I can’t exactly read it as fast as I do for English. No plans yet to get a PS3 since I don’t have a good enough TV anyways -_- No game I really wanna get on the PS3 too xD

Yeah, totally wished I got the artbook :( *sigh*

  8. I love this figure, but can’t seem to find her being sold anywhere online, plus PlayAsia never has it in stock. I’m just desperately hoping that GSC releases her alone.

  9. @Dancing Queen: Yeah, they never had it in stock after they put it on sale at almost 50% off thereabouts I believe, that hurt big time when I saw it T_T

The figure with the game is available on ebay though I understand that really isn’t something most people would go for. I’ll help keep a lookout for any restocks on P-A and drop you a note if it ever gets restocked =) In the meanwhile, lets keep hoping she’ll be released as a stand-alone ;)

  10. Argh, I had a chance to buy this on Play-Asia but I passed since I thought it was too expensive. Here’s hoping for some kind a re-release of this figure in the future.

  11. There is a small figure of Sumomo in this costume that came with a Dengeki G’s Magazine (Issue 201, nov.2007) Shes on one foot leaning over with one hand near her ear. Is this the figure your looking for?
